Texas Construction Law and Construction Management Expertise
Bob Hancock brings more than 35 years of construction industry experience, including 15 years in construction management and decades of experience drafting and negotiating construction contracts and resolving construction disputes. His unique combination of operational and legal experience allows him to provide practical, business-oriented advice that helps clients manage risk, avoid disputes, and successfully deliver projects.
Bob advises clients through every stage of the construction process, from project planning and contract drafting and negotiation to claims resolution, litigation, trial, and arbitration. His transactional practice includes the drafting and negotiation of prime contracts, subcontracts, master service agreements, purchase orders, and other construction-related agreements and project documentation.
He represents owners, developers, general contractors, subcontractors, specialty contractors, sureties, suppliers, design professionals, material providers, and consultants in a wide range of matters, including contract negotiations, project risk allocation, delay and acceleration claims, disruption and productivity claims, insurance coverage disputes, OSHA investigations, dispute avoidance strategies, and complex construction litigation and arbitration.
Bob's involvement with statewide legislative committees focused on construction-related legislation provides him with a detailed understanding of the Texas statutes and regulatory framework governing the construction industry. During legislative sessions, he regularly reviews, drafts, supports, and analyzes legislation affecting construction projects and the businesses that build them, giving clients valuable insight into the evolving legal landscape in Texas.
In addition to his construction practice as an advocate, Bob frequently serves as outside general counsel to businesses operating throughout Texas, providing practical legal and strategic guidance on commercial, operational, and risk-management issues. He represents clients in state and federal courts, arbitration proceedings, and administrative matters across Texas.
This blend of construction-industry experience, legislative involvement, transactional sophistication, and dispute-resolution experience enables Bob to help clients to avoid costly disputes and navigate both the legal and business challenges that arise throughout the life of construction projects.
