ATLANTA — Long-time Womble Bond Dickinson partner Joel Pieper has been named the new Managing Partner of the firm’s Atlanta office. In this role, Pieper will now lead a team of nearly 60 attorneys and approximately 50 staff members.

Pieper succeeds Michael Sullivan, who has served as Atlanta Office Managing Partner since 2011. Sullivan remains with the firm as a mass tort litigation partner in Atlanta.

“I am honored to lead this outstanding team of attorneys and professionals. Atlanta is a fast-growing market and is a critical transatlantic hub for Womble Bond Dickinson,” Pieper said. “Michael did an outstanding job leading this office, and I’m glad he will remain a valued member of our team.”

Pieper’s new role in the firm’s third-largest US office amid the firm’s continued growth has already garnered media attention. The Daily Report, which covers the Atlanta-area legal industry, published this feature article on Pieper and Womble Bond Dickinson this week.

Pieper is a veteran litigation attorney whose clients depend on him to resolve complex, high-stakes cases. His clients include companies in the manufacturing, commercial construction and insurance brokerage sectors. Pieper has served as national counsel for manufacturers in mass tort litigation, class actions and multidistrict litigation.

Womble Bond Dickinson opened its Atlanta office in 1996 through a merger with Parker Johnson Cook & Dunlevie. Since that time, the size of the office has more than doubled, and in 2009, the firm moved to new office space in Atlantic Station, a mixed-use office, retail and residential community in midtown Atlanta.
