Womble Bond Dickinson Houston Office Managing Partner Jeff Whittle will moderate a mock case study on “Licensing for Success in Global Market Change.” The August 7 discussion is part of the Licensing Executives Society International (LESI)-Brazil and LESI-Americas conference.

The panelists will engage in a lively discussion related to a fictitious potential joint venture case of new technology for plastics that includes a supply of catalyst, licensor completing additional technology licenses, and the prospect of a national oil company licensing or joint venturing the package to build a global-scale production plant and enter the Brazilian market. What are some difficulties in securing the potential deal, and once the deal is completed, what are some problems in “Living with the deal” in this context? The panelists also will discuss lessons that may be drawn from the negotiations, from license/deal language or clauses, and from ways to anticipate risk management issues for your deals.

Joining Whittle in the mock case study discussion will be Juliana L. B. Viegas (LES Brazil Emeritus), Claudio Roberto Barbosa (Kasznar, Leonardos) and Bob Held (Held Intellectual Property, LLC).

Whittle currently serves as the Co-Chair of the Americas Committee for Licensing Executives Society International (LESI). He is the past president and chair of the Licensing Executives Society (LES) for the USA and Canada (2015-2016) and served on the LES Board for over seven years.
