On September 18, Womble Bond Dickinson attorney Ben Bourke visited and spoke to Berkeley Law’s Law, Bioethics, and Emerging Technologies class.

Bourke sat in on student-led discussions regarding the role of compounding pharmacies during drug shortages and life cycle management of the pharmaceutical drug pipeline. He focused his own presentation on how Hatch-Waxman litigation affects the cost of drugs, particularly through brand monopoly and generic entry.

The course is taught by Vincent Joralemon, the Director of the Berkeley Life Sciences & Policy Center.

Bourke along with Womble attorneys Mary Bourke and Susan Krumplitsch, are members of the Center’s Life Sciences Advisory Group.
