Liz Arias, Carl King Speak at American College of Trust and Estate Counsel 2025 Summer Meeting

Womble Bond Dickinson Partners and Private Wealth team members Liz Arias and Carl King both presented at the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) 2025 Summer Meeting, which took place June 18-22 in Montreal.
Arias spoke in a panel discussion on, “Written in Sand or Carved in Stone? A Survey of Common Form 709 Mistakes and Determining if the Damage Can Be Undone.” This session examined common mistakes made on Form 709. The panel addressed reporting issues related to gift-splitting, allocations of GST exemption and elections, adequate disclosure. They also spoke on possible corrective measures.
King took part in a panel discussion titled, “Fiduciary Income Tax Issues for Trusts Owning S Corporation Stock”. The discussion focused on common issues for trusts owning S corporation stocks. King covered the issues that arise when grantor trusts are shareholders.
