Womble Bond Dickinson Partner Karthika Perumal will be among the speakers at the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) Clinical Informatics Conference.
Perumal will take part in a panel discussion on “Patenting Your Idea or Invention”. Many of AMIA’s members may be a part of an organization that has robust Technology Transfer Offices (TTO) where assistance is available to provide guidance and services for an individual to protect, evaluate, patent, license, then market intellectual property to third parties. Other members may not have the resources or facilities to bring their ideas forward to patent and subsequent marketing to industry. The panel will explore methods for identifying professional societies, patenting law firms, and other avenues for an individual or start-up to obtain a patent as the first step towards commercialization of their idea or invention.
The AMIA Clinical Informatics Conference is an event for clinician informaticists of all disciplines—physicians, nurses, physician assistants, technicians, HIT developers, data analysts, C-suite executives, and more—to share innovations. The conference takes place May 24-26 in Houston.
