Womble Bond Dickinson Partner Brendan O’Dea will be a speaker at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s 16th Annual Design Day on May 4.

O’Dea will take part in a discussion on recent case law, summarizing the most important design patent decisions over the past year from the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the district courts, and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. In particular, his presentation will focus on LKQ Corp. et al. v. GM Global Technology Operations LLC and its implications on nonobviousness in design patents.

He will be joined in the discussion by Rebekah Holtz, Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox attorney Rebekah Holtz.

Design Day is an annual USPTO event offering insights on design patent issues from USPTO design examiners and managers, the PTAB, design patent practitioners, and more. The event takes place virtually and in person at USPTO headquarters in Alexandria, Va.
