BOSTON—Womble Bond Dickinson continues to build its Boston-based intellectual property practice with the addition of veteran IP attorney John Forcier as Of Counsel.

Forcier has more than two decades of experience guiding life sciences, chemical and tech sector companies in procuring, licensing and defending patents. His practice includes:

  • US and international patent portfolio development and high-level IP strategy;
  • Patent litigation and enforcement;
  • IP due diligence and landscape analysis;
  • Technology transactions and licensing.

Before law school, Forcier spent 15 years as an engineer and project manager in the energy and consumer goods industries.

“John has a great deal of proven experience, both as a patent attorney and an engineer, and he brings that legal knowledge and real-world know-how to work on behalf of clients,” said Sarah Keefe, Managing Partner of Womble Bond Dickinson’s Boston office. “We are so pleased to have him on our team.”

“While Womble Bond Dickinson is relatively new to Boston, it is well-known and respected in IP circles. The firm has more than 150 IP attorneys and patent agents in the US and UK, and manages nearly 16,000 active patent matters,” Forcier said. “Such a robust IP practice will only benefit my clients and my practice.”

In the community, Forcier devotes pro bono time to the Animal Rescue League of Boston.

He comes to Womble Bond Dickinson from Choate in Boston.
