Steve Bressler is an experienced litigator who concentrates his practice on insurance coverage and products liability litigation. He regularly appears before state and federal courts throughout the Southwest, representing life, health, and disability carriers in a broad range of matters, including contract interpretation, bad faith, punitive damages, rescission, and regulatory controversies. Steve also defends manufacturers in product liability and mass tort cases.
Steve has a long track record in litigation. He was a member of a core team at the firm that served as national counsel for E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co. for more than a decade, managing over 1,600 Teflon® products liability cases and successfully resolving hundreds on terms favorable to the client. In recognition of that work, DuPont presented Steve with its Gold Eagle Award—the company's highest honor for outside counsel, bestowed only twice in its history.
Clients value Steve's hands-on approach and his commitment to understanding the details of their operations so he can build the strongest possible defense narrative. A pragmatic problem solver, he works closely with sophisticated, knowledgeable clients as a trusted advisor—identifying the right strategy, recommending a course of action, and executing it effectively in court.
Steve is actively engaged in the legal community. He is a past Chair of the American Bar Association's Tort and Insurance Practice Section's Health and Disability Insurance Law Committee, a member of the Defense Research Institute's Life, Health, Disability, and ERISA Committee and serves on the Law Committee to the International Claim Association. His professional affiliations have included the International Association of Defense Counsel (serving on the Insurance/Reinsurance Committee), the Federal Bar Association, the Maricopa Bar Association, the Arizona Association of Health Care Lawyers, and the Arizona Association of Defense Counsel, where he was a past Board member.
Outside the office, Steve regularly hikes the trails in and around the Phoenix area, has twice completed the City of Phoenix's Seven Summit Challenge—summiting all seven peaks in a single day—and makes an annual trek down and back up the Grand Canyon every November. He also enjoys taking non-law-related educational classes in his free time.
