In his patent prosecution practice, Ran has extensive experience drafting patent applications across a broad range of technical fields, including telecommunications, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, computer networks, image processing, and autonomous vehicles. In his post-grant practice, Ran has represented inter-partes review (IPR) petitioners aiming to invalidate patents asserted by non-practicing entities (NPEs). Ran also has significant experience in due diligence, infringement analysis, and standard-essentiality analysis in domestic and foreign patent litigations.
With a strong foundation in electrical and computer engineering from his previous career as an engineer, Ran is highly regarded for his ability to combine legal acumen with technical insight, ensuring robust protection for his clients' most valuable innovations. Before joining Womble Bond Dickinson, Ran honed his skills as a patent practitioner at two renowned IP law firms. Prior to his IP career, Ran worked as an electrical engineer in the tech industry, developing cutting-edge solutions in augmented reality, data storage, and wireless systems. Between his careers in tech and IP, Ran spent a "gap year" of 16 months in Europe, where he immersed himself in the culture and history while pursuing an MBA, further enriching his global perspective.
