Eric McCarthy is General Counsel & Chief Legal Officer of Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP and works out of its Greenville, SC office. Among other areas, Eric has overall responsibility for loss prevention, claims and litigation, conflicts, contracts, insurance and risk management. In addition, Eric directs the firm’s ethics and professional responsibility efforts. He is also a trusted advisor to the Firm Executive Committee, Management Committee and Global Board.
Eric brings more than 25 years of executive leadership experience to Womble Bond Dickinson. Before joining Womble in June 2020, he served as Senior Vice President of Government Relations, Public Policy and Legal Affairs of Proterra, a leading manufacturer of electric transit buses and battery solutions. He also previously served as its General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. As a brand ambassador for heavy-duty electric transit buses, Eric spoke regularly on issues concerning transportation electrification and sustainability. He is accomplished in driving revenue growth for public and private companies in both established and high-growth markets, having also served as General Counsel of Honeywell Technology Solutions, Inc.
Prior to joining Honeywell, Eric was an antitrust trial litigator and a partner in the antitrust and competition practice groups of Latham & Watkins LLP and Howrey LLP in Washington, D.C. He attended Dartmouth College and the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
