Mason’s practice spans complex commercial litigation, internal and government investigations, and product liability. He also serves as a commercial counselor, advising clients on the business, regulatory, operational, and reputational considerations surrounding disputes and investigations. Mason represents Fortune 100 companies and other market leaders in regulatory inquiries, class actions, commercial and contract disputes, consumer litigation, OSHA and workplace safety matters, and advertising and marketing compliance.
Licensed in California and North Carolina, Mason represents and advises clients in matters across the United States and internationally. He has particular experience helping UK companies understand and manage US legal and commercial risk, translating unfamiliar litigation, regulatory, product, and market-entry issues into practical guidance for executives and in-house legal teams.
Mason is a leader in helping clients transform their legal and litigation processes through artificial intelligence. His work extends well beyond deploying AI tools. He begins by developing a detailed understanding of the client’s business, matters, and existing processes, then designs intentional, purpose-built solutions around the client’s actual needs. From tailored workflows for large-scale litigation and investigations to AI-enabled processes for due diligence and matter management, Mason helps clients use AI to improve efficiency, strengthen governance and controls, and produce measurable, defensible results.
Outside the firm, Mason serves on the Foundation Board of the North Carolina Museum of Art and previously chaired the Board of the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art in Winston-Salem.

- Counsels a global consumer products company on cross-border advertising, sweepstakes, and product marketing compliance.
- Served as lead trial counsel for a North Carolina manufacturing company following a catastrophic industrial fire, directing emergency response, OSHA investigations, and class action defense.
- Defends a Fortune Global 500 consumer products manufacturer in personal injury and wrongful death litigation nationwide, developing scientific and medical defense strategies and leading expert witness preparation.
- Advised an international food manufacturer in OSHA investigations arising from a workplace fatality associated with COVID-19 exposure.
- Defended a national construction contractor in OSHA and civil proceedings involving multiple fatalities at a high-rise site, obtaining dismissal of all “willful” allegations and a favorable resolution of the remaining claims.
- Defended a national bank in dozens of consumer lending cases in over 10 jurisdictions.
- Assisted in defense of senior corporate executives in a high-profile SEC and DOJ securities investigation involving alleged manipulation of corporate earnings, resulting in no charges being filed against the executives.
