Dan is a chemical biologist who helps life sciences and advanced technology companies protect and maximize the value of their innovations through strategic patent counseling and portfolio development.
Dan has extensive experience developing and executing global patent prosecution strategies to secure strong and commercially meaningful patent protection in the United States and internationally. In addition to obtaining patents across the major IP5 jurisdictions, he has guided patent prosecution efforts in numerous jurisdictions, including Canada, India, Australia, New Zealand, and countries throughout South America, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.
Dan routinely manages global patent portfolios for biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies ranging from emerging startups to established industry leaders. He also advises universities and research institutions on cost-effective patent strategies designed to support technology transfer, licensing opportunities, and long-term intellectual property value creation.
Prior to entering private practice, Dan was a postdoctoral fellow at The Scripps Research Institute in San Diego, where he conducted research at the intersection of chemistry and biology. He is the author of 18 peer-reviewed scientific publications and a co-inventor on a patent application directed to small-molecule therapeutics for the treatment of rare blood cancers.
