WASHINGTON, D.C (September 16, 2025) – Womble Bond Dickinson announced today that David D. DiBari, a trusted advisor in cross-border investigations, white collar defense, and financial crime compliance, has joined the firm as a partner in its Washington, D.C. office. He joins the Business Litigation group as part of the White-Collar practice team.

DiBari brings more than 35 years of experience advising multinational corporations and financial institutions in complex, multi-jurisdictional matters involving economic sanctions, export controls, anti-money laundering, and anti-corruption enforcement. His addition deepens the firm’s bench in areas of strategic importance, particularly as regulatory scrutiny in these domains remains steady under the current administration.

“David’s arrival directly supports a strategic priority for the firm: enhancing our capabilities in cross-border investigations, international litigation, and regulatory enforcement at the highest level,” said Lisa Rushton, Business Litigation Practice Group Co-Leader. “His deep experience in sanctions, anti-money laundering, and export controls is especially valuable as enforcement in these areas remains robust. David strengthens our presence in Washington, D.C., adds senior leadership to our white-collar team, and positions us for long-term growth and succession planning.”

Throughout his career, DiBari has led global internal investigations and advised clients on enforcement actions before the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and Congress. He has also counseled boards and senior executives on crisis response, whistleblower issues, and enterprise risk management.

“Womble offers a platform that matches the complexity and international scope of the work I do,” said DiBari. “As geopolitics increasingly invade legal strategy and enforcement agencies strengthen global coordination, clients need counsel who can navigate the interplay of laws, practicalities, and strategic insights across jurisdictions. I’m excited to contribute to the firm’s growth and help clients meet these challenges head-on.”

Prior to joining Womble, DiBari held multiple leadership positions at a prominent international law firm, including Global Co-Head of the Risk Team, Head of Regulatory Investigations and Financial Crime for the Americas, and Managing Partner of the Washington, D.C., office. He is widely recognized as a thought leader in global compliance and enforcement, a frequent speaker on regulatory issues, and an active contributor to pro bono efforts focused on international human rights and sanctions compliance. He has also been named to the Lawdragon 500 Leading Litigators in America list.

DiBari received his J.D., cum laude, from Albany Law School and his B.A., cum laude, from Colgate University.
