CHARLOTTE, NC—Veteran IP attorney Travis Iams is returning to private practice and joining Womble Bond Dickinson’s Charlotte office. Iams previously served as the lead IP attorney for the Industrial Sector of a global manufacturing conglomerate—a role that included overseeing a global IP portfolio of more than 2,400 active patent assets and 2,000 trademarks.

Iams’ wide-ranging IP experience includes IP strategy and portfolio management, as well as IP licensing and technology transfer agreements. He also has extensive experience in patent and trademark litigation. At Womble Bond Dickinson, he will be part of a team that has a particular focus on serving the manufacturing sector.

Before law school Iams spent four years working as a mechanical engineer.

“Travis brings real-world experience as an in-house attorney that is so valuable to our efforts to serve corporate clients. In addition, he has a well-rounded IP practice with both transactional and litigation experience. We are pleased to have Travis join the Womble Bond Dickinson team,” said Chris Humphrey, the leader of Womble Bond Dickinson’s Patent Prosecution & Litigation Practice Group.

Iams joins a team that includes more than 150 IP lawyers and patent agents in the US and UK.

“Womble Bond Dickinson is the right firm for me to resume private practice. Intellectual property law has long been a core practice for the firm, and I already know many of my new colleagues. I know my clients will be well-served by Womble Bond Dickinson,” Iams said.

Iams spent seven years as an intellectual property litigation attorney in Alston & Bird LLP’s Charlotte office.
