LOS ANGELES (October 3, 2023) – Womble Bond Dickinson has expanded its products liability bench on the West Coast with the addition of a team of trial attorneys in California. The group, comprised of partners Claire Weglarz, Macy Chan, and Thomas Remillard in Los Angeles, partner Mirna Scheffy in San Francisco, and associates Julia Wood and Sybil Leung in Los Angeles, has extensive experience in high-risk litigation involving products liability, premises liability, environmental claims, and toxic exposures.

The group joins during a period of significant expansion in California. Last fall, Womble entered the San Francisco legal market through a combination with Cooper, White & Cooper, a multi-practice firm with over a century of experience providing comprehensive representation to clients in the Bay Area and across the country. Since then, the firm completed two additional combinations with Simmonds & Narita, a consumer financial services litigation boutique based in San Francisco, and Gordinier Kang & Kim, a boutique business law firm in Southern California.

Claire Weglarz is a first-chair trial attorney representing public and private entities nationwide in high-risk litigation. She represents clients in a broad range of industries, including energy, chemicals, manufacturing, automotive, and consumer goods. She has extensive experience in cases involving product liability, premises liability, environmental claims, and toxic exposures to asbestos, talc, benzene, and other chemicals. 

Macy Chan has extensive litigation experience involving complex business disputes, toxic exposure, and product liability. She defends Fortune 500 corporations in high-risk litigation, including employers, premise owners, and manufacturers of products and equipment in the industrial, construction, automotive, and consumer markets.

Thomas Remillard focuses his practice on the defense of personal injury, product liability, toxic tort, and complex civil litigation cases. He has defended companies of all sizes in high-risk litigation, including employers, premises owners, contractors, suppliers, and various product manufacturers in the industrial, automotive, construction, and consumer markets.
