Once again, Womble Bond Dickinson has been named one of the industry’s top law firms for promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion matter at Womble Bond Dickinson. That’s why we are proud to be named a Mansfield Rule 6.0 Certification Plus status, given to firms that show progress toward DEI goals using objective, measurable metrics. This is the fifth consecutive year that WBD has been recognized in the annual Mansfield report.

Mansfield aims to increase and sustain diversity in leadership within law firms and legal departments by broadening the pool of women lawyers, LGBTQIA+ lawyers, lawyers with disabilities, and underrepresented racial and/or ethnic lawyers who are considered for senior lateral attorney job openings, firm governance opportunities, equity partner promotions, and firm leadership positions. Participating law firms also must create and publish job descriptions and appointment/election policies for leadership roles.

Firms report their results to the Diversity Lab, which administers the Mansfield Rule. Mansfield 6.0 Certified firms are those at which at least 30 percent of candidates for the aforementioned positions come from underrepresented lawyer groups.

The Certification Plus firms are those firms that have taken things a step farther. Not only have they met the criteria for Certification and made deliberate steps to expand the list of those considered for leadership positions, but Certified Plus firms also achieved diverse representation in key leadership positions during this past year. Only half of the Certified firms achieved this additional honor for 2023, according to the Diversity Lab.
