Belinda acts in connection with claims made against a wide range of professionals including solicitors, barristers and accountants, but with a particular focus on construction professionals including surveyors, architects and engineers. Belinda also regularly advises Insurers on policy and coverage matters. Belinda has been involved in numerous trials and mediations and also has particular experience of dealing with claims by vexatious litigants in person. 

Belinda qualified as a Barrister and Solicitor in Australia in 2002, where she gained litigation and advocacy experience appearing in Local and Federal Courts, and is now admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales.

Belinda has also published a number of articles on insurance and civil procedure issues and regularly prepares and presents seminars and training to clients.

    Examples of experience include advising:

    • a coverage dispute arising out of the construction of a large storm water drainage scheme relating to the insured's entitlement to recover expenditure incurred in mitigation
    • a claim against a firm of architects relating to the production of schematic and concept designs for resort-style cliff-top residences in Portugal
    • a high-value portfolio of claims against surveyors relating to mortgage valuations on multiple properties. The claims involve issues of title to sue, contributory negligence, failure to mitigate, and procedural issues involving the claimant's selective "batching" of claims. Claim value: £1.1m
    • a claim against a Trustee of a large property trust. This was a complex, multi-party dispute involving 3 trustees with overlapping periods of involvement, other potentially negligent advisers, planning issues and 19 residuary beneficiaries. Potential claim value: £5m
    • a claim arising from solicitors' failure to complete the transfer of land intended for use as a solar farm, involving technical issues relating to the potential kW generating capacity of the solar farm and the value of feed-in tariffs.
