BOSTON—Companies in the biotech, pharmaceutical and life sciences sector depend on sophisticated intellectual property counsel that understands the complex medical and scientific issues at the heart of their business. With that in mind, Womble Bond Dickinson has added Elif Ertem Bekdemir, Ph.D. as a science advisor.
Dr. Bekdemir has both a background in clinical research and experience working with life science companies on patent portfolio management and protection. Her practice involves guiding companies in prior art research, patent prosecution, patent portfolio development, and freedom to operate analyses in the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, chemistry and materials science.
As a researcher, she led numerous projects involving life sciences, chemistry and nanomaterials, including completing many projects in close collaboration with industrial partners.
She holds a Ph.D. in Material Science and Nanotechnology from École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland. Dr. Bekdemir comes to Womble Bond Dickinson’s Boston office from Picket Fence IP, LLC.
“Understanding both scientific and legal issues is critical to serving sophisticated life sciences companies, and Elif has the experience in both to be a trusted advisor,” said Sarah Keefe, Managing Partner of Womble Bond Dickinson’s Boston office. “We are glad to have her here at Womble Bond Dickinson and on our Boston team.”
