PALO ALTO, CALIF.—Womble Bond Dickinson’s Silicon Valley lawyers and staff have a new home. The firm has combined its long-held Palo Alto office and its recently acquired Sunnyvale office under one new roof at 1841 Page Mill Road in Palo Alto.
The 19,000+-square-foot office is part of the Page Mill Hill campus, located within Palo Alto’s Stanford Research Park. The new office, which opened May 14, gives the firm space for its existing Silicon Valley team of nearly 40 attorneys and staff, with room to expand.
The need for an expanded office space is the result of the January addition of renowned California-based IP firm Blakely Sokoloff Taylor Zafman, LLP. The Blakely addition brought more than 20 experienced IP lawyers and patent agents to Womble Bond Dickinson, along with offices in Los Angeles, Orange County, and Sunnyvale.
“When we added the Sunnyvale office, we knew we wanted to get our entire Silicon Valley team together in one location as soon as possible,” said Mike Gencarella, Managing Partner of the firm’s California offices. “We found an ideal space in Page Mill Hill – one that is centrally located to our client base and that will allow our attorneys and staff to work collaboratively.”
Womble Bond Dickinson’s Silicon Valley office provides a full range of Intellectual Property services, with a focus on tech sector clients.
Attorneys in the Silicon Valley office also advise companies in complex corporate transactions, including entity formation, buy/sell agreements, licensing, and government contracts. Team members include attorneys with decades of experience in Silicon Valley, including many with practical experience in engineering.
The new Silicon Valley office is the latest in a series of moves to strengthen the firm’s capabilities in California. Along with the Blakely Sokoloff addition, the firm also recently added leading financial services litigation lawyer Eric Troutman and his team in Orange County. Troutman and his team have particular experience guiding clients in Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) class action defense.
In addition, Womble Bond Dickinson recently hired veteran sales and marketing professional Maggie Watkins as its first California Client Service Director.
