It’s official: the Womble Bond Dickinson combination was the largest law firm transaction of 2017, according to a new report by Altman Weil Inc. (Click here to read more at Law360 as well as at Bloomberg’s Big Law Business).
The Womble Bond Dickinson combination, which took effect Nov. 1, topped the busiest law firm transaction market in history. Altman Weil recorded 102 total law firm mergers or combinations in 2017, breaking the previous record of 91 and way up from 85 in 2016.
The combined platform includes:
- 27 offices in key commercial and financial markets across the US and UK, including new offices in Boston and Edinburgh as well as access to Europe through existing relationships;
- The bench strength of more than 1,000 lawyers. By size, the combined firm is a Top 20 firm in the UK, Top 80 firm in the US, as well as a Global Top 100 firm by annual revenue ($410 million/£340million);
- A client base that includes more than 250 publicly traded companies.
The firm continues to make headlines in 2018. California-based Blakely Sokoloff Taylor Zafman, LLP joined Womble Bond Dickinson effective January 2, 2018. The addition of the Blakely team added 20 lawyers and patent agents to Womble Bond Dickinson’s roster as well as offices in Los Angeles, Orange County and Sunnyvale to complement the firm’s existing Silicon Valley office.
In addition, D.C.-area communications and technology firm Bennet & Bennet, PLLC has joined Womble Bond Dickinson.
