TYSONS, VA.—Both research and real-world examples from the tech industry show that diverse organizations outperform non-diverse ones. From talent attraction and retention to product development and customer satisfaction, diverse perspectives lead to better organizational decisions.
Womble Bond Dickinson’s Northern Virginia office recently hosted a panel discussion on how a diverse culture can benefit a company’s bottom line. The Association of Corporate Counsel’s National Capital Region Chapter co-presented the Nov. 19 event.
The panel of speakers at the “What the Tech Industry Can Teach Lawyers about the Value of Diversity” event included:
Nanette DeRenzi, Chief Operating Officer at Jefferson Consulting Group and former Judge Advocate General of the U.S. Navy;
Jennifer DeTrani, General Counsel and Executive Vice President at Nisos Inc and former Co-Founder of tech startup Wickr; and
Zohra Tejani, Co-Founder/Member of Tong Tejani PLLC and former senior in-house counsel for VMWare and Microsoft.
Womble Bond Dickinson Tech Transactions Partner and Georgetown University Law School Adjunct Professor Todd Harris moderated the discussion. Harris is publishing a series of articles to encourage healthy public discussion, especially among lawyers, regarding support for diversity in workplaces and communities.
In addition to Harris, Womble Bond Dickinson attendees included Northern Virginia Office Managing Partner Gary Nunes, Partners Keith Mendelson and Dean Rutley, and Client Services Director Cameron Hunt.
