WILMINGTON, DEL.—Late August and early September are time for kids to return to school. But for children struggling with homelessness, returning for school brings far bigger worries than homework.

Womble Carlyle’s Wilmington office worked with the YWCA to help children at a local homeless shelter get a good start to the school year. The firm collected money to buy back-to-school supplies for 22 boys and 20 girls staying at the shelter. Then, attorneys and staff members held a “Backpack Stuffing Party” to fill backpacks with items requested for the specific children.

In addition the Wilmington office provided additional funds to help provide clothing, as well as food for a back-to-school picnic at the shelter.
