CHARLESTON, SC—The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted arbitration proceedings, just as it has impacted nearly every other aspect of daily life. Many hearings previously held in person have been shifted to virtual settings.
But will this shift to virtual continue when the pandemic ends? Or will remote arbitration become a permanently attractive option for parties engaged in a dispute? Womble Bond Dickinson attorney Allen Gibson recently spoke to the American College of Construction Lawyers on “Will Zoom Continue to Bloom (Post Pandemic)? Remote Arbitration Hearings.” Gibson was joined in the presentation by Barnes & Thornburg LLP attorney Clif Shapiro. Their webinar presentation took place Oct. 22.
Gibson, a Fellow in and former President of the American College of Construction Lawyers, is an active mediator and arbitrator of construction disputes. His experience includes counseling clients in virtual arbitration hearings.
