ASHEVILLE, N.C.—Womble Carlyle attorneys Todd Billmire and Ric Morton were among the presenters at the North Carolina Bar Association’s Environment, Energy and Natural Resources Law Section Annual Meeting.

Billmire and Morton presented an hour-long discussion on real property damages associated with environmental cases. Their presentation noted recent changes to North Carolina law on the measure of damages and emerging trends in plaintiff efforts to establish and prove damages. They also discussed new methodologies for calculating real property damages being advanced by parties and their experts.

Their presentation took place Friday, May 6th in Asheville.

Todd Billmire represents and advises businesses, utilities, and municipalities in complex environmental and toxic tort litigation and compliance matters. He works with leading national experts on residential and commercial property valuation in environmental cases. In addition, Billmire counsels clients on compliance with federal and state environmental statutes.

Ric Morton focuses his practice in the areas of Environmental Regulatory Compliance, Litigation and Enforcement Defense, as well as Toxic Tort and Products Liability Litigation. Additionally, he has worked with both state and federal energy and climate change policies and related legislation. Morton practices in Womble Carlyle’s Charlotte, N.C. office.
