Womble Bond Dickinson’s support of and participation in the NC Free Legal Answers pro bono program has been spotlighted by the North Carolina Bar Foundation.

Presented by the North Carolina Bar Foundation, the NC Free Legal Answers effort provides limited assistance to financially eligible clients through an online portal. The Womble Bond Dickinson team answered 37 questions during a Nov. 7 session, which was organized by attorneys David Boaz and Jon Mize. In all, 31 Womble Bond Dickinson attorneys have registered for NC Free Legal Answers, answering a total of 49 questions.

“Most issues do not call for specialized knowledge, and if a question does, some very basic research will likely yield the answer,” Boaz tells the NCBA. “Our firm’s Empower Hour, was a great way to introduce NC Free Legal Answers to our attorneys and improve their comfort level with doing this work. We also had a great time getting together and collaborating on questions! I would highly recommend this program to firms looking to increase pro bono participation.”

Mize said, “Many of our attorneys practice in niche areas and pro bono opportunities are not always easy to find within these practice areas. I frequently hear from attorneys that they want to do pro bono work but are worried about the time commitment or the subject matter. This program solves both of those problems.”
