WASHINGTON, D.C.—Womble Carlyle’s D.C. Office celebrated all things RED—and raised money for kids in need—on May 25.
The office took part in the Red Nose Day campaign, a national effort to raise money and awareness for ending childhood poverty. The Womble Carlyle team raised money for the Far Southeast Family Strengthening Collaborative, Inc., a non-profit community organization working to enhance the stabilization, empowerment and personal development of children and families who are residents of D.C.’s Ward 8.
This year, the D.C. office raised $1,750, beating last year’s total by $700!
But Red Nose Day also is a chance to have some fun at work. During the week leading up to May 25, team members “painted the office red” by posting Red Nose Day signs around the office.
Then, on Red Nose Day, the office enjoyed such activities as:
- A bagel and red schmear breakfast;
- A Red Nose Day group photo (complete with red noses!);
- A lunchtime carnival, with food, games and treats;
- A pie throwing booth; and
- A bake sale, featuring lots of crimson goodies.
Participants donated $15 to take part in these activities. For another $5, they could sponsor a room or object in the office.
The DC Office Red Nose Day Committee, who made this such a successful event and fundraiser was comprised of:

Womble Carlyle’s Red Nose Day activities also proved to be a smashing success on Facebook and Twitter. Red Nose Day USA commented on and liked the firm’s video on Facebook and Walgreens (the national sponsor of Red Nose Day) liked the firm’s Tweets. In all, Womble Carlyle’s social media messages reached thousands of people with an engagement rate of nearly 1100% above industry standard. Katie Briel leads the firm’s social media activities.
