WASHINGTON, DC—Womble Bond Dickinson has strengthened its Food and Beverage Regulation and Litigation practice with the addition of veteran attorney Mark Itzkoff. He joins the firm’s Mass Torts Litigation team as Senior Counsel in the Washington, DC office.

Itzkoff has represented clients in food, drug and chemical regulatory matters including:

  • Food, dietary supplement and food packaging matters before both the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and US Department of Agriculture (USDA), including successfully petitioning federal regulators for clearance of new food packaging materials;
  • Food additive and Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) petitions for food ingredients;
  • Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) regulatory compliance;
  • Food and dietary supplement labeling;
  • Medical device approvals, including Humanitarian Use Devices; and
  • Pesticide registration.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Itzkoff spent more than a decade as a chemist and chemical research engineer, with a focus on new product development. He has more than 30 years of experience as an attorney guiding companies in FDA-related regulatory matters.

“Mark has worked with regulators and industry clients for over three decades. He understands the regulatory pressure points for food, drug and beverage companies, and he also understands what they hope to achieve in the market,” said Kurt Weaver, leader of Womble Bond Dickinson’s Food and Beverage Regulation and Litigation service team.
