Womble Carlyle attorney Chris Geis regularly represents local governments and public officials in federal and state courtrooms throughout North Carolina. These cases usually are challenging, complex and high stakes.

But outside of the courtroom, Geis leads an equally rich life, as detailed in a new profile in the Winston-Salem Journal. He has served in the US Navy since 1998, including two deployments to the Persian Gulf. Currently a Reservist, he serves as a judge on the Navy-Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals.

Geis also is a former newspaper journalist and still frequently writes for publication. He credits his journalism background with making him a better attorney. In addition, his short fiction writing has been recognized by the North Carolina State Bar.
