BALTIMORE—Womble Carlyle’s Baltimore Speaker Series continued on Sept. 14 with a look at the region’s transportation trends, with two industry insiders.

BWI Marshall Airport CFO Jim Walsh and Jim Ports, Deputy Secretary for Operations for the Maryland Department of Transportation, joined Womble Carlyle for a breakfast discussion on the trends and challenges in the transportation sector in Maryland.

The fireside chat started with an active discussion about the challenges facing national infrastructure, such as legislation, payments and prioritization of issues. Walsh and Ports then addressed specific infrastructure initiatives and challenges within Maryland, such as the development of the Purple Line light rail, the widening of I-81 and future plans for BWI Marshall Airport. David Hamilton, Managing Partner of the firm’s Baltimore Office, moderated.

The event was attended by attorneys from Womble Carlyle’s Baltimore office as well as numerous local business leaders from a cross-section of industries.

The next Baltimore Speaker Series event takes place Thursday, Oct. 5 and will feature former SEC Commissioner Dan Gallagher discussing “SEC Issues: Past, Present and Future.”
