WASHINGTON, D.C.—Transactions attorney and entrepreneur Alex Park has joined Womble Carlyle’s Corporate and Securities team in Washington, D.C.
Park will guide clients through the full life cycle of corporate formations, operations and transactions, including venture capital/start-up, general corporate governance matters, corporate finance, and mergers, acquisitions and reorganizations.
“The D.C. region is once again a hotbed of entrepreneurial start-ups, mature companies, and innovative infusion. Not surprisingly, business counseling and transactional opportunities are ripe here in the D.C. region, and Womble Carlyle continues to be well positioned to offer its practice strengths to guide these businesses,” Park said. “I’m confident Womble Carlyle will be a great match for my practice and, more importantly, my clients.”
Park has represented software, e-learning, real estate, managed healthcare and senior assisted living companies in a wide range of transactions. He has particular experience counseling real estate investment trusts (REITs) in M&A and capital market transactions. He spent almost 14 years at Hogan Lovells LLP, five of those years as a partner.
Park’s capital markets work includes common stock and public debt offerings, representing both large publicly-traded companies and bulge-bracket investment banks. He has worked on and led transactions with aggregate values in the billions of dollars.
Park resigned from Hogan Lovells LLP in 2010 to serve as the President, COO and Chief Legal Counsel of C4EIS, LLC—a technology company that he co-founded. C4EIS specializes in the design and development of Web and mobile interactive multimedia and distributed learning courseware for Department of Defense, civilian government and commercial customers. Park led C4EIS through its initial capital formation, numerous acquisitions, corporate governance, commercial contracts and licensing agreements, and various compliance matters.
Park also has previous in-house experience as Vice President and Chief Corporate Counsel at The Mills Corporation, a prior firm client while at Hogan Lovells.
“Alex combines an in-house counsel’s business perspective with extensive transactional and capital markets experience. We are thrilled to have him on our team,” said Keith Mendelson, Practice Group Leader for Womble Carlyle’s Corporate & Securities Practice Group.
Womble Carlyle’s D.C. Office Managing Partner Pam Rothenberg said, “Client service is our top priority, and attracting and retaining top talent is a key component of our client service strategy. Alex is an outstanding addition to the firm and the D.C. office.”
