Womble Bond Dickinson Attorney Lawrence Matthews Honored with Winston<40 Leadership Award

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.—Womble Bond Dickinson attorney Lawrence Matthews received the Winston<40 Leadership Award at an Oct. 4 ceremony held at the Forsyth Country Club.
The Winston<40 Leadership Award is presented annually by the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce, and recognize outstanding young professionals that are actively influencing the growth, prosperity and quality of life in Winston-Salem and Forsyth County. This year, only 20 winners were selected out of more than 150 nominees.
Matthews was honored both for his work as a product liability litigation attorney as well his extensive volunteer and pro bono work. His pro bono service includes representing veterans before the Board of Veterans’ Appeals, serving as a Guardian ad Litem appellate advocate for abused and neglected children, and advising Legal Aid of North Carolina on numerous issues. He also volunteers his time with the American Heart Association, March of Dimes and Second Harvest Food Bank, and serves on Womble Bond Dickinson’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
This is the fifth consecutive year that a Womble Bond Dickinson attorney has been honored with the Winston<40 Leadership Award. Loryn Buckner won the award last year. Sonny Haynes and Jonathan Reich won in 2014 and 2015 respectively, while Christa Burger was honored in 2016.
