Womble Carlyle’s new Raleigh office promises to benefit firm clients and firm attorneys alike. Former Raleigh Office Managing Partner Johnny Loper discussed details of the project with the Triangle Business Journal in the cover story of the November 14th edition.

Womble Carlyle will be an anchor tenant of the 11-story Charter Square building, currently under construction at 555 Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh. The new office will be smaller (45,000 square feet versus 68,000 in the firm’s current space), which will allow the firm to operate more efficiently.

“In a law firm, one of the biggest expenses is space,” Loper tells the Triangle Business Journal. “Clients are always demanding that you be efficient, and in 2008, that drumbeat picked up in frequency and intensity.”

Loper explained that law firms now store documents electronically, greatly reducing the need for filing and storage space. In addition, the new office will be designed with collaboration in mind.

The new office is scheduled to open January 1, 2016.
