Rural Carriers Will Benefit from Collaboration in a “Better Together” Approach
Telcom Insurance Group, Womble Bond Dickinson, and CyberESI have joined forces to provide comprehensive cybersecurity risk management, managed detection and threat response as well as incident recovery services to NTCA members in the event of a cybersecurity breach.
The partnership builds on an existing successful relationship between Womble Bond Dickinson and CyberESI. Now, Telcom Insurance Group is adding cybersecurity insurance coverage. Companies that work with Womble Bond Dickinson and CyberESI qualify for special cybersecurity insurance discount rates through TIG. TIG has also retained Womble Bond Dickinson to handle any litigation that ensues as a result of a cybersecurity breach.
Though this collaboration, Womble Bond Dickinson offers a Cybersecurity Incident Response and Recovery Retainer that provides legal and information security services to clients to both defend against a data breach or other cybersecurity incident as well as to respond should such an event occur. Most importantly, this alliance allows for protection under the umbrella of attorney-client privilege and the attorney work product doctrine.
The retainer arrangement is designed to provide clients with CyberESI technical support and Womble Bond Dickinson legal support. With counsel directing the technical aspects, clients are able to invoke attorney-client privilege and the attorney work product doctrine to safeguard potentially damaging breach-related information from those seeking to sue companies for damages associated with loss of data and personally identifiable information.
TIG is in the process of rolling out its new cybersecurity insurance program across 26 states with more to come. Those rural carriers that work with all three companies will recognize synergies across the board.
“The goal of this arrangement is to eliminate gaps in protection that can occur when the insured and insurer have different risk management and legal counsel. By partnering with this group an NTCA member will have greater peace of mind that their businesses are adequately protected from cybersecurity threats,” said Peter Elliott, CEO of Telcom Insurance Group.
Womble Bond Dickinson attorney Carri Bennet, who is spearheading the firm’s participation in this collaboration noted, “This soup to nuts approach means that rural carriers will have a cohesive strategy that covers all aspects of cybersecurity risk management, threat detection, incident response and recovery and the peace of mind that trusted counsel will be by your side advising you before, during and after a cybersecurity breach.”
“All three companies truly are ‘better together”, stated Joe Drissel, CEO of CyberESI. “This teaming approach results in a best in class service offering for NTCA members that is unsurpassed in the communications industry.”
On October 17, Womble Bond Dickinson, CyberESI and Telcom Insurance Group will host an interactive NTCA webinar titled “Get Your Cybersecurity Ducks in a Row!” Womble Bond Dickinson’s Carri Bennet, CyberESI’s COO Matt Barrett and Telcom Insurance Group’s Pete Elliott will explore risk management policies, important regulations, best practices for safeguards and threat detection, and a crisis management strategy that addresses both incident response and service restoration.
Then, on Oct. 27, Womble Bond Dickinson, CyberESI and Telcom Insurance Group will conduct a pre-conference workshop at the NTCA Cybersecurity Summit in Salt Lake City, Utah titled “Get Your Cybersecurity Ducks in a Row.” In this interactive session, experts in law, insurance, incident response and cybersecurity risk management will use real-world insurance claims to explore developing risk management policies, complying with regulations, implementing best practices for safeguards and threat detections and developing a crisis management strategy that addresses both incident response and service restoration.
