The U.S. learned a hard lesson when the COVID-19 pandemic struck in early 2020: The nation’s supply chains are vulnerable to disruption. So business and government leaders began to work together on “reshoring” and “onshoring” solutions. The goal is to make supply chains more secure by bringing manufacturing that has been done overseas to the U.S.
Womble Bond Dickinson Economic Development Partner Stephanie Yarbrough has worked with companies on reshoring and onshoring efforts and on Feb. 22, she will take part in a panel discussion titled “Home Again, Home Again: Reshoring & Onshoring.” The discussion takes place at the SCBIO (South Carolina Biotechnology Innovation Organization) Annual Conference.
Yarbrough will be joined in the conversation by Thermo Fisher Scientific VP & GM—Lab Equipment Chris Champlin, SHL Medical AG Senior Program Manager—Capital Projects & Site Development Thomas Freund, and Nephron Pharmaceuticals President, CEO & Owner Lou Kennedy. The panelists will discuss the trends around reshoring and onshoring and how U.S. companies can benefit short-term and long-term.
The 2023 SCBIO Annual Conference takes place Feb. 21-23 in Charleston, S.C. Yarbrough is a former Vice-Chair of the SCBIO Board of Directors.
