Womble Bond Dickinson Partner Masami Tyson moderated a “fireside chat” with Ambassador of Japan to the United States Shigeo Yamada as well as U.S. Senator Bill Hagerty during the 2024 Japan-American Society of Tennessee (JAST) Annual Business Forum and Luncheon on May 24 at the Tennessee State Museum.

This year’s event also included a special presentation and tribute to Dr. James E. Auer for his lifelong service to promoting U.S.-Japan relations. The presentation was done by Suzanne Basalla, Partner at Geodesic Capital and Torkel Patterson, Senior Advisor to Central Japan Railway Company. The forum also featured remarks by Consul-General of Japan in Nashville, Shinji Watanabe.

JAST’s mission is to strengthen a vibrant bilateral economic future for Tennessee and Japan by building upon long-standing relationships and promoting mutual understanding and cultural awareness among Japanese and American communities in Tennessee. Masami serves as Chair of the JAST Board of Directors.
