HOUSTON—Education researcher and reformer and Rice University professor Dr. Ruth López Turley is the next headline speaker in Womble Bond Dickinson’s Diversity Speaker Series.

Dr. Turley will speak to firm attorneys, staff and guests on Monday, July 29. The presentation will take place in the firm’s Houston office and be broadcast to Womble Bond Dickinson’s other US offices.

Dr. Turley founded the Houston Education Research Consortium (HERC), a research-practice partnership between Rice University and the Houston Independent School District that aims to improve the connection between education researchers and decision makers for the purpose of closing achievement gaps and improving outcomes for students. Dr. Turley also helped to launch the National Network of Education Research-Practice Partnerships which supports and develops partnerships between research institutions and education agencies throughout the country.

She has served in various elected and appointed positions in the American Sociological Association, the American Educational Research Association, the Society for Research on Educational Effectiveness, and the National Research Council of the National Academies, as well as the editorial boards of Sociology of Education and Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis. Dr. Turley completed her undergraduate education at Stanford University and her graduate education at Harvard University.
