SUMMARY:Privacy Issues with Emerging Technologies: Murphy’s Law or “Wha
 t Could Possibly Go Wrong?”
DESCRIPTION:New technologies ranging from biometrics to artificial intellig
ence and robotics to facial recognition are implemented increasingly by co
mpanies\, both for internal and external (customer) purposes. As companies
roll out new products and services based on these technologies or adapt n
ew tools for use by their employees\, what are the attendant privacy and s
ecurity risks? We will explore legal issues arising out of how some of the
se emerging technologies are currently used and what does the future hold.
We will also address how US states and other governments have chosen to
regulate some of these technologies and the implications of these regulati
ons for companies.\n\nOur panel of speakers will include Peter McLaughlin
(Womble Bond Dickinson Boston) and Lavonne Hopkins (Johnson & Johnson).
