WBD recognised as Living Wage Employer

Transatlantic law firm WBD has been accredited as a Living Wage Employer. The Living Wage Foundation is an initiative with over 6,000 accredited organisations, committed to paying the real Living Wage – a voluntary wage rate which is higher than the minimum wage set by the government, and calculated based on actual living costs.

Airbus SE Deferred Prosecution Agreement

On Friday, Dame Victoria Sharp, President of the Queen's Bench Division, approved a Deferred Prosecution Agreement (DPA) between the Serious Fraud Office and Airbus SE. Under the terms of the DPA, Airbus SE agreed to pay a fine and costs totalling €991m as part of a €3.6bn global resolution for bribery offences.

Brexit: the impact on merger filings

The UK has formally ceased to be a member of the EU. We now have a transition period, until 31 December 2020, during which the UK will adhere to existing EU Rules including the EU Competition Rules. Businesses need to be aware that the "EU One Stop Shop" for transactions which fall under the EU Merger Regulation, will cease to apply to the UK at the end of the transition period, meaning that qualifying transactions may be scrutinised both by the EU Commission and by the Mergers Branch of the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). 

More award nominations for WBD at leading industry awards

Womble Bond Dickinson (WBD) has been nominated for two awards at the LexisNexis Legal Awards 2020. The projects shortlisted include the firm's retail sector report The Digital Tipping Point in the Award for Business Development. The report looks at trends around online shopping and how this is impacting retailers. The firm was also praised in the Award for Sustainability on the back of its efforts towards greener practices and the firm's Planet Mark Certification.
