ASA rules on ad for "pre-approved" credit

The Advertising Standards Authority ("ASA") has published its ruling on a TV ad for Clear Score Technology Ltd ("ClearScore"), confirming its decision to ban the ad by the financial technology company after finding that it breached the UK Code of Broadcast Advertising ("BCAP Code") rule 14.11.

COVID-19: moving towards re-opening non-food retail premises

The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) Regulations 2020 which includes provisions setting out those businesses which can remain open during the current lock-down period and those which must remain closed, are next due for review no later than Thursday 7 May. The regulations also specify that as soon as the Secretary of State considers that any restrictions or requirements set out in these regulations are no longer necessary to prevent, protect against, control or provide a public health response to the incidence or spread of coronavirus, they must publish a direction terminating that restriction or requirement. That direction could relate to a variety of businesses and premises, or may be more narrowly constructed, as the UK finds its way out of lock-down.

COVID-19 impacts go-live date of EU medical device regulation

Following the European Commission's March press release on the suggested postponement of the effective date of the Medical Device Regulation (the MDR), given the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic, it's formal Proposal was published on Friday 3 April. This Preparatory Act, which amends the date of application of various provisions in the MDR from 26 May 2020 to 26 May 2021, has still to be approved by both the European Parliament and the Council.
