Terry joined the restructuring and insolvency team as a paralegal before completing a training contract and qualifying into the team in 2006. He was appointed as an associate in 2010 and a managing associate in 2013.
He undertakes investigative and asset recovery work for insolvency practitioner clients arising from both personal and corporate insolvencies. Terry also defends claims brought against directors of insolvent companies.
Terry is a member of the team which acts for The Insolvency Service, an executive agency of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. He acts in relation to applications for the disqualification of directors of insolvent companies under the Company Directors Disqualification Act 1986 and attends court regularly in relation to such matters. Many of the cases he has dealt with have been reported widely in the press.
He has also undertaken work for HM Revenue & Customs’ Specialist Investigations teams.
Terry has particular experience of dealing with cases involving fraud and other serious misconduct including Missing Trader Intra-Community (MTIC) VAT Fraud, Carbon Credit Fraud and Foreign Investment Fraud.
Terry also sits as a Deputy District Judge on the North Eastern Circuit.
