Owen is an Associate Paralegal in the Legal Solutions Centre within WBD Advance. Owen manages consumer claims brought against commercial clients which vary in area and quantum. These can contain data protection disputes, actions brought under the Consumer Rights Act, damages for financial loss or personal injury, and much more.
Owen's varied caseload contains claims brought against multiple different clients, including those in the energy sector, telecommunications, retail, and banking/finance.
Experience
Examples of Owen's experience includes:
- Working closely with client's consumer complaints team to defend and resolve claims brought against the client by its customers. A recent successful result concerned a claim being brought against the client for a faulty boiler, which resulted in the Claim being dismissed and a significant portion of the client's legal costs being recoverable from the Claimant.
- Advising the client on consumer claims, but most recently collaborating on providing substantial advice to the client on enforcement of County Court Judgments and also avenues of recovery of a debt.
- Proving advice to the client on a bespoke matter which concerns a pre-action claim for damages under the Consumer Rights Act relating to a Hire Purchase Agreement. Robustly defended the pre-action claim whilst providing advice to the client on their rights and responsibilities under the Hire Purchase Agreement and the available avenues for recovery of the Vehicle in dispute.
