Maddy's experience predominantly includes defended commercial litigation claims, including claims based on breaches of consumer and contract law, data protection, and discrimination. Maddy manages over 200 matters and communicates directly with client stakeholders to provide advice on pragmatic solutions in order to secure commercially successful results.

She is adept at legal drafting, such as Defences, Witness Statements and substantive responses. She is now also running more complex financial matters relating to defending half-secret commission claims issued by businesses against her client and brokers in the energy sector, and also claims in varying track allocations. Maddy is familiar with the sectors her clients operate in (retail, energy & natural resources and e-commerce) and provides holistic commercial advice. 

Maddy takes an active role with team development by conducting training sessions on settlement negotiations and also as a dedicated supervisor for other paralegals' work on pre-action matters. She helps to ensure that the team stay ahead with the fast-paced developing commercial areas the team operates in and contributes to a seamless client service.

  • eBay Commerce UK Ltd on robustly defending a claim issued against a director, itself and a third-party, liaising with external solicitors and resulting in the claim being dismissed
  • Waitrose Limited on drafting an appropriate substantive response to a claim for harassment and discrimination
