Julian is a partner in the Restructuring and Insolvency team.
Over 25 years, he has acted for corporate and public sector clients, major banks and insolvency practitioners with projects ranging from restructuring and turnaround to formal administration, receivership, liquidation and bankruptcy including group reorganisations, debt assignments, business sales and contentious recovery actions.
He is a former chairman of R3 (a national trade body for the profession) in the North East and member of the Insolvency Lawyers’ Association. Chambers rank him in the top tier of North East practitioners.
Experience
Examples of experience includes:
- Corporate clients and their officers in relation to restructuring, personal liability issues and acquisitions of/from insolvent companies
- Acting for lenders to assess their security and commercial risk and formulating and executing a plan to revive the customer or enhance the position of the client and all stakeholders
- Advising insolvency practitioners to maximise recoveries for creditors (including business and asset sales) and minimising claims
- Assessing potential claims against directors and third parties (antecedent transactions) and taking all necessary steps including court proceedings and injunctions to make recoveries for creditors.
