Ian is a solicitor with the firm who has a project management background, specialising in environmental contracting and consultancy.  Within the firm he has experience liaising with clients, drafting, transaction management, legal research, and document analysis.

Prior to studying law and starting with the firm, Ian was an environmental engineer and held a management role on various contaminated land projects. He is used to liaising with Local Authorities, statutory/non-statutory organisations, and clients within both the public and private sector.

During this previous role he managed projects in technical, financial and practical capacities; managing teams of staff and contractors from project design, planning and costing phases through to project completion and regulatory sign off.  

He was responsible for co-ordinating multiple work streams across a variety of types of work and is experienced in many aspects of the contaminated land sector including remediation design, waste management, environmental permitting, environmental risk, and planning issues. 

Ian has presented at both the Nordrocs conference in Finland and AquaConSoil conference in Milan on land contamination issues and is a current member of the UK Environmental Law Association.

Experience
  • East Anglia Offshore Wind - assisted in advising an offshore wind farm client with respect to a land referencing exercise as part of a development consent order application.
  • North Somerset District Council - assisted on all aspects of initial programming work in respect of a local transport scheme in Bristol.
