Helen joined the firm on 30 July 2002. She has over 20 years’ experience in the legal profession and became a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives in March 2004, having previously worked at a law firm in Worcester. During this time Helen had experience of dealing with personal injury claims and personal insolvency matters.

She has wide experience of general debt recovery processes from mediation and negotiation, through commencement of proceedings, summary Judgment applications, instructing Counsel, and the enforcement spectrum, including Charging Order applications, Third Party Debt Orders and Orders to attend court for questioning. Helen has considerable experience in attending court hearings.

Helen has also acted for The Insolvency Service, an executive agency of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy in relation to the investigation and disqualification of directors of insolvent companies under the Company Directors Disqualification Act 1986. She now deals with the recovery of costs awarded to the Secretary of State and Official Receivers as a result of those cases.

Helen works closely with Sue Pattie, the Newcastle Legal Solutions Centre (LSC) Debt Manager, assisting with independent schools, advising and recovering fees due in respect of tuition and accommodation.

Helen also acts for a number of finance companies providing specialist knowledge of recovery in respect of factoring agreements and personal guarantee claims.
