As a Research Consultant with over sixteen years of experience, Ira utilizes her clinical and scientific experience to analyze medical issues in litigation. She assists lawyers representing RJ Reynolds Tobacco Co. in numerous personal injury/wrongful death cases across the country, with a current focus on the diagnosis, treatment, and risks related to pulmonary diseases. She has provided defense strategy and expert preparation for a global tobacco company in product liability and healthcare recoupment litigation in Russia, Canada, and Spain. She was involved in the first product liability lawsuit in Russia where she worked with European expert witnesses identified by her personal and professional contacts. Being bilingual (Ira is fluent in English and Russian), she translated and prepared interpretations of medical and legal documents. Ira also was involved in product liability litigation in Canada where she assisted the trial team with developing the best possible scientific and defense strategy.

Prior to joining Womble Bond Dickinson, Ira was a physician specializing in Respiratory Critical Care Medicine and Anesthesiology with a specific focus on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema, and bronchial cancer. She received her PhD in pulmonary anesthesiology/bronchology Ira was also scientist at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine, where her research interests focused on thoracic anesthesiology and cancer cell biology.
