Chiharu is a trusted advisor to clients in a wide range of corporate issues, including cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, equity financings, general corporate matters and capital markets transactions. She has advised U.S., UK, Japanese and global businesses, as well as public, private and start-up companies. Chiharu has experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of primary and ancillary M&A transaction documents.
In addition to being a part of the Corporate & Securities Practice Group, Chiharu is also part of the firm’s Japan Practice. Chiharu is fluent in Japanese and Japanese corporations in particular depend on Chiharu to counsel them through a number of corporate-related issues. She advises them on cross-border mergers and acquisitions and provides securities law advice.
Chiharu previously worked for prestigious international law firms in Tokyo, Japan. Using her language skills and deep understanding of the business and legal cultures of the U.S. and Japan, she assists the Japanese companies with their U.S. corporate law matters.

- Advised a Japanese manufacturer and provider of office furniture on its acquisition of China and Hong Kong-based office furniture business from a U.S. manufacturer and provider of workplace furnishings
- Advised a U.S.-based company on its disposition of shares in a joint venture company and on its termination of license agreements
- Advised a Japanese financial institution on the acquisition of a majority equity stake in an Indian financial services company
- Represented a Japanese financial institution in its senior notes offering
- Represented a Japanese company in connection with its business integration transaction involving filing of a Form F-4 registration statement with the SEC
