Dr. Casey Donahoe practices intellectual property law with an emphasis on patent prosecution and strategy in the fields of biotechnology, life sciences and medical devices. A highly versatile patent practitioner with a broad scientific background, he works with a range of technologies at all stages of patent prosecution, and counsels his clients on patent filing and claim strategies, and trademark use.

After graduating from Duke University with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Casey worked as a patent examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, where he gained valuable insight into the factors that influence a patent application’s rejection or allowance.

He went on to earn a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis. There, his research combined chemistry, biology and engineering in developing polymeric biomaterials with ultra-low protein absorption properties for applications in regenerative medicine and tissue engineering.
