Adrian has over 25 years' experience as a corporate finance lawyer in the London and International (re)insurance markets and formerly served as European General Counsel of QBE Insurance Group and as EMEA General Counsel of Swiss Re.

In 2017, he co-founded a multi-national, multi-line MGA, backed by A+ and A++ capacity, serving as Chief Legal Officer and Head of Risk, Governance & Compliance.

Adrian specialises in strategic capital transactions and prudential regulation at Lloyd's and in the London Companies Market. His commercial focus and approach to legal risk is of value to all clients with an interest in insurance, reinsurance or alternative risk transfer.

Examples of Adrian's experience includes:

  • Acting for Arch Group on the sale of their MGU platform, Castel Underwriting Agencies Ltd, to Ryan Specialty
  • Acting for the administrators of MCE Insurance Ltd, an MGA that was formerly a leading specialist motorbike insurer and the sponsor of British Superbikes
  • Acting for the buyer on a successful renewal rights transfer and team move from an MGA to an insurance company, which we believe was the first of its kind
  • Advice on the regulation and claims-handling arrangements in a global DIC/DIL programme with a cedant in the Middle East, advising on the conflicts of laws between the UK PRA/FCA regulations and those of the cedant's home state, drafting the programme documentation to observe the differences, whilst still maintaining operational efficiency
  • Expert opinions on the Solvency II technical provisions, own funds and solvency capital requirements, including advice to a global investment bank on the Solvency II treatment of its Asset Backed Commercial Paper.
